Small Blue Butterfly

The small blue is the smallest butterfly in the UK, with a wingspan of only 1.8-2.7cm! Its favoured food is the kidney vetch. Despite its name, it only has a light dusting of blue on its otherwise grey wings. These butterflies tend to live in small colonies.

Under the UK Biodiversity Action Plan, the Small Blue butterfly has been listed due to habitat loss.
